Orphan Caregiving at UAIM
Caring with Love, Raising with Dignity
At United Arakan Institute Malaysia (UAIM), we believe that every child deserves love, care, and a safe place to grow—especially those who have lost their parents due to war, displacement, and illness.
Our Orphan Caregiving Program is dedicated to supporting refugee orphans who have no one else to care for them. Currently, 25 orphans live under our full care at UAIM hostels, where we provide them with everything they need to live, learn, and flourish.
Who Are These Children?
These children carry stories of great loss and trauma:
- Some lost their parents in Myanmar during the violent military crackdown
- Some were orphaned on the journey to Malaysia, crossing borders in search of safety
- Others lost their parents in Malaysia, often to critical illnesses or accidents, leaving them with no family or support
With no legal guardians and no one to protect or provide for them, these children found a home with UAIM—a place where they are loved, respected, and given a future.
What We Provide
Through the support of generous donors, we are able to provide:
- Safe and clean accommodation
- Daily nutritious meals
- Access to quality education and Islamic learning
- Clothing, healthcare, and emotional support
- A nurturing environment for character development and growth
We don’t just house them—we raise them as our own, preparing them to become responsible, compassionate, and resilient individuals.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,”
(putting his index and middle fingers together).
— [Sahih al-Bukhari, 6005]
Why This Matters
Orphans are among the most vulnerable members of the refugee community. Without family, they face increased risks of:
- Exploitation and abuse
- Lack of education
- Emotional trauma
- Poverty and hunger
UAIM steps in to break this cycle. We believe that caring for orphans is not only a social duty—it is a sacred trust and a path to Jannah (Paradise).
